M40 traffic news: Firefighters race to battle vehicle fire
The incident happened as crews from Bicester and Banbury[1] fire station attended a vehicle fire on the M40 between Junctions 10 and 9 shortly after 8pm on Friday night (April 5). On arrival, crews were faced with a well alight vehicle, with smoke affecting both carriageways. With a full southbound closure in place, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were able to commit a firefighter in BA to extinguish the fire using one of their high-pressure hose reels.
The firefighters took to Facebook to relay the news and posted two photographs of the team battling the car blaze on the motorway.
A spokesperson for the service said: “Thanks to swift intervention the carriageway was back open within 45 minutes of the initial call.”
