Kent car and lorry accident on A28 Ashford sees man in 60s taken to hospital

A man aged in his 60s has been taken to hospital following a crash near Ashford[1]. Emergency services were called to the A28 Ashford Road in Chilmington Green at 7.20am on Tuesday, April 30 following reports of a collision involving a car and a lorry. Officers from Kent Police[2] were joined by crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb)[3] and Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS)[4] at the scene between Bethersden Road and Chilmington Green Road.

The road had been blocked due to the crash, resulting in heavy traffic and delays in the area. An early update from Inrix stated: "A28 Ashford Road in both directions blocked, heavy traffic due to accident at Chilmington Green Road." The incident also caused disruption for bus services in the area, resulting in cancellations.

A spokesperson for Kent Police has said: "Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man in his 60s was taken to a London hospital for treatment.

The road remains closed while crews respond to the incident." A spokesperson for SECAmb has confirmed that, after being assessed and treated at the scene, the man was taken to Kings College Hospital in London. At the time of writing, the road remains closed.
