Emergency services rush to Glasgow M73 as part of busy motorway closed after crash
Part of a busy motorway[1] in Glasgow is closed following a collision on Thursday afternoon, April 4. Traffic Scotland has said the M73 slip-road southbound has been shut heading onto the M74 following the incident. Emergency services are at the scene of the crash.
It is not yet known how many vehicles are involved or whether anyone has been injured. A picture shared with Glasgow Live shows that a lorry appears to be involved in the crash.
Motorists have been urged to “avoid the area” with traffic said to be “heavy on approach”.
A Traffic Scotland spokesperson wrote on X.com: The M73 Slip Southbound is CLOSED heading onto the M74 due to a collision.

“Emergency services are at scene. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes.” A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12:10 to attend an incident on the M73 southbound slip road onto the M74.
Two special operations response teams (SORT), one ambulance and one paramedic response care were dispatched to the scene, and one patient was transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
