A428 closed due to incident on major Cambridgeshire road
A major Cambridgeshire road is closed following an incident today (Sunday, April 7). The A428 is shut to traffic in both directions near Junction 31 for the A14[1]. The incident and closure was first reported shortly after 7pm.
Delays continue in the area. A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A428 near Cambridge is closed in both directions between A14 J31 and A1303 due to a police-led incident Cambridgeshire[2] Police are managing the incident. East of England Ambulance Service paramedics are attending this incident also.
National Highways has Traffic Officers assisting with implementing the road closures and managing traffic.”
Diversion routes
For traffic on the A14 westbound wishing to use the A428 westbound or A14 westbound: Exit at J31 of the A14 westbound on to the M11 southbound. Continue south to J12 of the M11 and exit At the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the third exit on to the A603 Barton Road Keep right on the A603 and cross over the M11.
At the next roundabout take the second exit on to the M11 northbound. For the A428 westbound exit at J13 and turn left at the end of the slip road on to the A1303 westbound and continue to Madingley to join the A428 For the A14 westbound continue north on the M11 J14 and continue forward off the end of the motorway on to the A14
For traffic on the A428 eastbound wishing to use the A14 eastbound. Exit at the Madingley Interchange with the A1303. At the roundabout at the end of the exit link road take the fourth exit on to the A428 westbound.
Continue west on the A428 through two interchanges to the Caxton Gibbet Roundabout. Take the third exit on to the A1198. Follow the A1198 northbound to the interchange with the A1307 at Godmanchester.
Take the third exit from the roundabout on the A1307 eastbound.
At the Swavesey Interchange with the A14 (J24) take the second exit to join the A14 eastbound
