LIVE: Air ambulance called as ‘serious collision’ brings M6 to a halt
Emergency services including the air ambulance have been scrambled to a 'serious collision' on the M6 which has brought the motorway to a halt. And National Highways say there has been a 'secondary collision' on the opposite carriageway.
The incidents have resulted in both the northbound and southbound carriageways brought to a stop with traffic being temporarily held south of Crewe. Traffic is backing-up southbound towards junction 17 for Sandbach.
National Highways has confirmed traffic on both carriageways on the M6 through North Staffordshire has been stopped. A post on X states: "Traffic remains held in both directions on the M6 in Staffordshire between J16 (Crewe) and J15 (Stoke-on-Trent) due to a serious collision on the southbound and a secondary collision on the north. An Air Ambulance has just landed on scene. Traffic may be held for some time."
