Rush hour traffic building due to M62 crash closing lanes

The crash took place earlier today on the M62 eastbound, between junction 5, Bowring Park Interchange, and junction 6, Tarbock Island.

North West Motorway Police posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that there will be long delays due to the collision.

The post said “We are currently dealing with a collision on M62 Eastbound J5 to 6 where we have lanes 1 and 2 closed. There will be long delays in the area. If possible, try to find an alternative route.”

According to traffic monitoring system INRIX, the two lanes remain closed, and queues are building as a result.

North west ambulance service and Merseyside Police have been contacted for comment.
