Serious crash closes M3 as HGV hits central reservation

The incident happened on the motorway, between Junctions 8 (A303) and 9 (A34), on Friday, December 15 at around 8pm.

All lanes westbound were closed, with one lane eastbound, for several hours.

Emergency work to the central reservation took place overnight and the motorway fully reopened by 7pm on Saturday, December 16.

It is believed that an HGV crashed through the central reservation.

National Highways said the event was a ‘serious collision’ in posts on X and said the central reservation barrier was severely damaged in the collision.

Hampshire police has been contacted for more information.
