‘Police incident’ closes M5 in Gloucestershire

Part of the M5 was closed in Gloucestershire this evening (December 14) because of a police incident. The stretch between junctions 10 (Cheltenham) and 11 (A40/Gloucester) was shut in both directions.
According to a tweet sent out by Gloucestershire Police[1], officers were responding to a "concerns for welfare" incident. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
Road monitoring website Inrix said traffic[2] was stopped just after 9pm. All lanes reopened just before 10pm.
