Man dies after being hit by vehicles on M4

A man died after being hit by vehicles on the M4 yesterday (December 9). The motorway was closed between junction 16 and junction 15[1], in Wiltshire, following the fatal crash.

Wiltshire Police were called to reports of a pedestrian in the carriageway at the roundabout of junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett at around 6.30pm. The pedestrian, aged in his 50s, entered the motorway on the eastbound carriageway and was hit by passing vehicles.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and investigating police officers are now appealing for information.

They are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dash cam footage. Police said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident.

“Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 237 of yesterday’s date.
