M4 crash: Man dies after being hit by vehicles in Wiltshire

A man died after being hit by vehicles on the M4 in Wiltshire[1] yesterday evening (December 9). Wiltshire Police[2] said the pedestrian, aged in his 50s, entered the motorway on the eastbound carriageway on foot before being struck at around 6.30pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at the roundabout of junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett but, sadly, the man was declared dead at the scene. The M4 was closed in both directions[3] between junction 16 and junction 15 following the crash but has since reopened.

The man’s next of kin have been informed. Investigating police officers are now appealing for information on the crash.

Wiltshire Police said: “Any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam footage is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 237 of yesterday’s date.

“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at [email protected][6].”
