M5 ‘police incident’ closes motorway in Somerset
A “police incident” left the M5 closed for a large part of this evening in Somerset. The incident was reported between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 25 (Taunton).
Traffic monitoring website Inrix had earlier reported there were “people on the road” at around 5.45pm. However, an update from the site now said it was a “police incident”.
As a result, traffic on both sides of the road was stopped. National Highways confirmed the motorway had been closed due to a “police-led incident”.
The M5 remain closed until around 8.20pm.
