DRIVERS are being warned of severe delays on the M62 after a lorry fire this morning.

Two lanes are currently closed on the westbound stretch of the motorway within junction 25 near Brighouse.

The blaze is now out but motorists are being warned of delays as a result of the lane closures – which have been put in place to allow recovery of the lorry.

The fire happened at around 3.30am.

A National Highways spokesperson said shortly before 7am: “Lanes and and two (of three) are closed on the M62 in West Yorkshire[1] westbound within junction 25 near Brighouse following a lorry fire.

“The fire has been extinguished and a complex recovery operation is now ongoing.

“Delays are building in the area.

“Please allow extra time for your journey.”

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said the delays were “severe” with congestion stretching back to before junction 27, for Gildersome.

The Telegraph & Argus has asked West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for further information about the blaze.
