60 patients assessed after crash between bus, truck

Eleven people have been taken to hospital and more than 60 assessed for injury after a truck hit a stationary bus on a busy motorway on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to the crash on the Pacific Motorway at Stapylton, south of Brisbane, about 9.35am after the truck and trailer hit the bus, which had stopped on the side of the road.
“There are multiple patients on the bus and everyone is currently being assessed for injuries,” the Queensland Ambulance Service said in the immediate aftermath.
“Multiple paramedic units attended the scene.”

Queensland Police said the bus was carrying students, aged 14 and 15, and a teacher from a school at Calamvale.
QAS later confirmed the truck driver had been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in serious but stable condition. Of the other patients:
- One was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries;
- One was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with leg and head injuries;
- Eight were transported to Logan Hospital in stable conditions.
Ten of those taken to hospital were students. Other people involved in the crash were assessed but uninjured.
The crash occurred at the southbound entrance to the Jacobs Well off-ramp.
Two lanes of the M1 were closed for some time after the crash, with drivers asked to avoid the area. The lanes have since reopened.
Police have appealed for anyone with dashcam footage to assist their investigation.
