Write to Santa as Post Office returns to town centre 15 minutes from …
Santa’s Post Office will return to Fleet town centre just 15 minutes from Surrey for 14 days in 2024, organisers have confirmed. The “charming experience” is perfect for families and offers children the chance to write their letters to Father Christmas[1] and meet his elves.
The festive Post Office will return to the Hart Shopping Centre and has been described as a “true community event” that will see volunteers from Fleet Guides man the desk. The attraction will open on Wednesday (November 22) and on weekends in the build-up to the big day. It will then stay open during the school holidays for the week before Christmas itself.
Fleet Business Improvement District (BID) will deliver the event, funded by local businesses. The Post Office is one of three events in Fleet run by the BID that hope to capture the essence of Christmas.

The annual Fleet Christmas Festival will take place on Wednesday (November 22) from 2pm until 9pm and will see entertainers, rides, and a grotto transform the town, as well as 120 market stalls line Fleet Road. A Christmas tree light switch-on will take place at 6.30pm.
Snow Windows will see shop fronts transform the town to create artwork dubbed a “unique street exhibition” that is a perfect Christmas trail for families. Artist, Tom, will be in action during the Christmas Festival at 217 Menswear at 217 Fleet Road.
Fleet BID manager, Tracey Shrimpton, described Christmas in the town as a “really special time”. She said: “The Fleet Christmas Festival is organised by a dedicated group of volunteers who work so hard every year to organise this event, which attracts people from far and wide.”
She added: “We recognise that families may find the pressure to spend money stressful this Christmas and we are delighted we can offer something very special for families to enjoy that they can do completely free of charge. We are so lucky to have such a fabulous range of committed small business owners who open their doors every day to offer customers unique services and products, with local staff to provide help and advice.”
Ms Shrimpton added: “The High Street is facing many challenges right now and our mission is to support businesses in Fleet with a number of activities to improve the trading environment and this is a great opportunity for people to show their support for local businesses which are the lifeblood of our community.”
