M74: Three hospitalised after five-car crash in Lanarkshire

Officers were called to the M74, between junctions 6 and 7, near Hamilton, around 3.25pm yesterday.

Five vehicles, including a white Peugeot Boxer van, a red Peugeot 107 car, a grey Mazda three, a black Mercedes-Benz C class car and a black Renault Clio collided.

As a result, the 19-year-old driver, 15-year-old passenger of the Peugeot car and a 65-year-old driver of the Mercedes were all taken to Wishaw General Hospital.

They have since been released.

A police cordon was erected as cops started the investigation and are encouraging any witnesses to get in touch.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our investigation[2] is ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash[3], or who may have dashcam footage from the area to get in touch.
