Live: Long M5 delays after multi-vehicle crash near Tewkesbury

Severe delays have been reported on the M5 just outside of Tewkesbury[1] after a multi-vehicle crash on the M5. Traffic is stationary in the Worcester-bound direction on the motorway after traffic was stopped at around 1.30pm today (November 24).

The crash took place between J8 for the M50 and J7 for Worcester, according to traffic monitoring system Inrix. Congestion is growing, with delays reportedly forming near J9 at Tewkesbury.

Congestion has also been reported in the Gloucestershire-bound carriageway, as onlooker try to see what happened. Inrix reports: “M5 Northbound blocked severe delays, stationary traffic due to multi-vehicle accident between J8 M50 and J7 A44 (Worcester / Evesham ). Congestion to J9 (Tewkesbury). The opposite side is congested due to the onlookers. Just after 13:30 all traffic was held. Prior to this lanes two and three (of three) were closed.”

The crash had been moved from the motorway by 4pm but broken down vehicle has added to the congestion which is still lengthy.
