Essex railway station named ‘most reliable in the UK’

Chelmsford railway station has been revealed to be the most reliable station in the UK according to recent data research. A study showed the Essex city railway station to be the most dependable with figures showing fewer than one per cent of trains being cancelled and trains being on time 84 per cent of the time.

The research analysed the top 100 busiest railway and tube stations across the UK, to find out where commuters are least likely to be faced with the dreaded cancelled train. Norwich railway station came a close second with trains being on time 87 per cent of the time but one per cent of trains at the station are cancelled altogether.

Fenchurch Street in London came in third with 1 per cent of trains being cancelled and trains being on-time 80 per cent of the time. London Waterloo and Barking station round up the top five.

The research, by from TonerGiant, showed Preston railway station was the worst train station in the country for cancellations with 14% of trains being cancelled. Commenting on the findings, Stuart Deavall from TonerGiant[3], said: “For many Brits, train cancellations seem to happen more often than not.

“However, our research proves that there are certain train stations that are free from cancellations and are frequently on time. Chelmsford for example, takes the top spot for having no cancelled trains in the past 12 weeks and 84% of trains being on-time, which is no mean feat!

“This makes Chelmsford station the most reliable station in the UK. Plus, commuters travelling in and around London are expected to get the most reliable train service as eight of the top ten train stations for non-cancelled trains are in the Greater London county.”

EssexLive has complied with the top 10 railway stations for reliability according to the results of the research. Read below for the full list.
