A number of crashes on the M58 caused traffic chaos.
Emergency services were called to the M58[1] westbound following a crash at around 9am today, Friday, November 17. North West Motorway Police closed the motorway between junction 3 (Bickerstaffe) and junction 1 (Maghull[2]) to deal with the incident.
A spokesperson for North West Motorway Police said officers were first called to a one car crash. Photos showed a silver Toyota Yaris on the embankment off the motorway.
In a separate crash at around 9.55am, but close to the first scene, two other vehicles crashed into the rear of an ambulance causing more traffic chaos. The spokesperson for North West Motorway Police said there were no serious injuries but the crashes caused long delays. All lanes have since reopened.
