Moment man pulls ‘gun’ on police officers as he wanders along busy M1

This is the moment a man pulled out a “gun[1]” and pointed it at police officers[2] as he walked along the verge of a busy M1 motorway[3] in South Yorkshire[4].

Officers stopped to help Steven Trevor Nelson, 35, at around 9am on 23 March.

Within seconds, Nelson pulled out what was believed to be a viable firearm, pointing it at the officer[5]. The officer withdrew to his car and called for armed colleagues[6] to assist.

Nelson was arrested and taken into custody[7].

He pleaded guilty to charges of possession of an imitation firearm to cause fear of violence and assault on an emergency worker.

He was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
