Mancunian Way set to CLOSE for urgent works – full list of dates affected

One of Manchester’s busiest roads will close for four nights while urgent works take place. Safety repairs are set to be carried out on the barrier along the Mancunian Way[1].

The motorway will be shut while the works are carried out, with a diversion in place. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM)[2] has confirmed four dates for the overnight works to take place.

The road is set to be closed from 8pm on Sunday (October 22), Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. It should reopen at 6am on each of the following mornings.

Traffic will be diverted through the city centre[5] – including Fairfield Street, Whitworth Street and Chester Road. In an update online, a TfGM spokesperson said: “Overnight work (8pm to 6am) will require the closure of the Mancunian Way on Sunday 22, Monday 23, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 October.

“Manchester City Council will be undertaking safety repairs to parapets on the Mancunian Way that could not be completed during the September closure.” Further details on roadworks around Greater Manchester can be found here[6].
