Exact times and dates of M621 Leeds motorway closures this week as roadworks begin

Sections of the M621 in Leeds are set to be closed this week as National Highways works to make “major improvements” to the motorway.

These works will be carried out between junctions one and seven in the city. Lanes are being added and widened at junction two, which will provide extra room so traffic can keep moving.

As a result of the work, a number of lane and full carriageway closures will be put in place around the junctions. The closures will take place at night to reduce disruption.

Here are the closures for this week:

Monday, October 23 – Between 8pm and 6am

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise entry slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise exit slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 4 – 1 anticlockwise carriageway closed

Tuesday, October 24 – Between 8pm and 6am

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise entry slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise exit slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 4 – 1 anticlockwise carriageway closed

Wednesday, October 25 – Between 9pm and 6am

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise entry slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise exit slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 4 – 1 anticlockwise carriageway closed

Thursday, October 26 – Between 8pm and 6am

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise entry slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise exit slip-road closed

  • M621 Junction 4 – 1 anticlockwise carriageway closed

Friday, October 27 – Between 8pm and 6am

  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise entry slip-road closed
  • M621 Junction 2 clockwise exit slip-road closed
  • M621 Junction 4 – 1 anticlockwise carriageway closed

There will also be three-lane traffic lights in place at the junction of Elland Road (south) and Cemetery Road. National Highways says fully-signed diversion routes will be put in place.

According to National Highways, the improvements will increase economic growth by improving journey times, traffic flow and average speeds.

Free flow links connection the A643 at junction two will also be added alongside extra lane capacity at junctions two and seven.
