Weather warning for strong winds in Preston this week

A yellow warning has been issued for strong winds in Preston and across the north this week.
The Met Office yellow warning runs from 10am on Wednesday 27 September to 7am on Thursday 28 September.
It says there’s “a small chance” the winds could be “significantly disruptive”.
There’s also a slight chance of damage to buildings, such as tiles being blown from roofs, and power cuts may occur. Longer journey times or cancellations are likely as road, rail, air and ferry services could be affected.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “A deep area of low pressure is expected to approach southwest Ireland early on Wednesday, and track across northern parts of the UK before clearing early Thursday.
“There is some uncertainty on the precise track and depth of the low, however the most likely outcome at present is for a wide swathe of 50 to 60 mph gusts to affect inland areas, perhaps locally stronger over and to the lee of hills in the north.”
