Thousands miss bin collection after fuel issue hits council trucks

Thousands of bins were left uncollected on after council trucks were left without fuel. A scheduled delivery did not arrive which meant council bin trucks were unable to complete their routes on Monday (Sep 5).
There were missed collections reported predominately in the Quinton area of the city[1]. The Cabinet Member for Environment Majid Mahmood explained the trucks were hit by an unexpected supply chain issue.
The fleet would be catching up with their collections on Tuesday and residents have been asked to leave their bins out.
Councillor Mahmood tweeted: "A scheduled fuel delivery didn’t occur on time. We’re sorry for the position this supply chain failure has put us in. We are making every effort to catch up, so please leave your bins out We’re asking the supplier why this happened and what can be done to prevent this in future." Councillor Sam Forsyth posted: "Thank you to everyone who has taken the time & trouble to contact me about their missed bin collections today in Quinton Ward. There were technical difficulties with a number of the trucks today so please accept my apologies for the inconvenience you have had. "I have reported all the missed collections that I have been told about & I have arranged a catch-up collection in Quinton tomorrow (Sep 5)."References
