M62 reopens after traffic chaos caused by motorway death
The motorway was closed for more than 15 hours in both directions between junction 11, for Birchwood, and junction 12, Eccles Interchange, as North West motorway police conducted its investigations.
At the conclusion of the investigation, however, the motorway was reopened this afternoon.
Traffic was backed up all the way down the M6 and across to the M56, with the M62 being closed for the majority of the day.
It has, this afternoon, however, reopened just in time to avoid rush hour congestion.
Due to a police-led incident, the #M62[1] is closed in both directions between J11 (#Birchwood[2]) and J12 (#M60[3]). @NWmwaypolice[4] remain on scene.
