M60: Delays warning after accident near Simister Island

The accident is believed to have happened close to Simister Island to the south east of the borough at around at around 6.45pm on the evening of Friday September 15.

It is thought to have occurred on the M60, a stretch of road well used by people going into and out of Bury.

The traffic monitoring system Inrix said: "Long delays and one lane closed due to accident on M60 anticlockwise at J18 M66 J4 (Simister Island)."

Traffic built up along the motorway as a result of the suspected accident throughout Friday evening.

Road users were warned to expect delays throughout the evening.
