Fleet of fire engines tackle building blaze that spreads to 11 vehicles
Five fire engines tackled a large fire in a building off Cargo Fleet Lane – which spread to 8 cars, two motorbikes and a van.
The incident happened in a building in Tame Road, Middlesbrough[1], at 4.40pm on Saturday – with smoke from the incident visible across Middlesbrough and even from fans inside the Riverside Stadium[2] watching Boro[3]‘s game against QPR.
Engines from Grangetown[4], Middlesbrough and Redcar[5] fire stations attended the scene with firefighters using three hose reel water jets to extinguish the flames.
A Cleveland Fire Brigade[7] spokeswoman said: “The fire was in a building which spread to eight cars, and also causing damage to two motorbikes and a Volkswagen van.
“The building was 30 per cent fire damaged, with 100 per cent fire damage to a cabin. We used three hose reel jets, one ground monitor and a thermal image camera.”

The spokeswoman also confirmed that police are investigating and are viewing CCTV cameras to find out how the fire started at the currently unnamed premises.
