Drivers warned as busy section of M8 in Glasgow to shut IN DAYS
DRIVERS in Glasgow have been warned that a busy motorway is set to shut within days.
A stretch of the M8 westbound carriageway will be closed overnight for eight nights.

A bust stretch of the M8 will close for eight nights (stock image)Credit: GettyEssential carriageway resurfacing and maintenance works will take place between Junction 8 Baillieston and Junction 10 Easterhouse.
The closures will take place overnight from 8pm to 6am the following day.
Works will begin on Sunday, September 10 for six nights and end on Friday, September 15.
Another closure will then be put in place on Sunday, September 17 until Monday, September 18 for two nights.
As a result, the a number of Link and slip roads will also be closed.
The M8 westbound Junction 8 Baillieston on slip road from A89 Coatbridge Road will be shut.
As well as the M73 northbound Link Road to M8 westbound at Junction 2 Baillieston Interchange.
The M8 westbound Junction 9 Springhill/Easterhouse on slip road and the M8 westbound Junction 10 Easterhouse (Glasgow Fort) off slip road will also be closed.

A signed diversion route will be in place via Baillieston roundabout then onto the A8(M) to Swinton roundabout, before taking the A8 Edinburgh[1] Road westbound to the B765 Stepps Road and returning to the M8 westbound at Junction 11.
Local diversion routes will also be in place.
Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling at these times to plan their route.
These essential carriageway resurfacing and maintenance works will be carried out by Scottish Roads Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of the route.
The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Glasgow City Council[2], Amey South West Unit and Police Scotland[3].
All works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
