BREAKING: Major delays on M6 with carriageway blocked on both sides due to multiple incidents – latest updates

There are major delays on the M6 this afternoon as multiple incidents have blocked a section of the motorway on both sides.

Three out of four lanes are currently closed northbound near Junction 17 for Sandbach, with traffic reportedly queuing back several miles to Junction 16 for Stoke-on-Trent.

This is due to an overturned trailer, according to Highways North West. Traffic officers are said to be on the scene with recovery agents ‘on route’ to the scene. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area or expect delays of at least 25 minutes in the area.

Eyewitnesses have also reported another crash on the southbound side of the motorway involving several cars just before Junction 17 of the motorway.

It’s thought to have involved four different cars, with traffic queuing back to Junction 18 for Knutsford. Road cameras show standstill traffic in the area.
