A38 investigations continue into double fatal crash that killed two men and horse and closed road for 20 hours

Two men and a horse were killed when a horse-and-trap was in collision with a car on a major A-road near a motorway. The A38 north of the M50 was closed for around 20 hours after the double fatal collision[1] on Friday night (September 16).

Police investigations at the scene continued during a full road closure[2] that was only lifted at around 7.30pm on Saturday. Both men, who were in the horse-and-trap, were declared dead at the scene and the coroner has been informed.

The horse was also killed in the incident at around 11.35pm. Both the men who died were from Worcestershire.

The A38 was closed from junction one of the M50 (Tewkesbury) to the Ripple turn-off, in the direction towards Upton. The car involved was a blue VW Golf and no other people were believed to be injured in the crash.

Anybody who may have been in the area at the time is being asked to come forward and speak to police.
