Tebay Truckstop revamp opened by BBC Radio 2
Tebay’s Truckstop at Junction 38 of the M6 celebrated their reopening yesterday, on Tuesday August 8.
The service space showed off the value of investment, with a fresh look and a new food[1] counter, as well as a community shop.
Sally Boazman from BBC Radio 2 opened the revamped shop by cutting a Truck Stop Focaccia made by Lovingly Artisan Bakery.
There has been an extensive shop makeover. The new Filling Station Shop now boasts a hot food counter and a bigger and better shop for weary travellers.
The new shop, which serves both HGV drivers and plays an important role as a local shop for the community has been expanded dramatically in both size and range. Breads from Kendal bakery “Lovingly Artisan” take centre stage, as well as a bigger range of products including local meats, chilled food, general groceries, beers and wines, pies and sandwiches.
New “Truck stop Exclusives,” include “The Filling Station Hot Dog” and the “breakfast in a box” which brings all the pleasures of a Full English in a convenient box for drivers on the move.
“Junction 38” has always been somewhere truckers look forward to stopping off,” says Operations Manager Adele Shewan. “There’s no reason why a truck driver wouldn’t want good food,” so we started with that ethos and consulted our regulars and set about making the absolute best Truckstop in the UK.”
Sally Boazman is the UK’s premier traffic and travel reporter, she paid tribute to the “Wonderful crew at Tebay Truckstop, I had a wonderful day!”
After working with the likes of Steve Wright, Johnnie Walker, Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine, and Chris Evans, Sally has become known as the woman who changed the face of traffic news. She received an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ on behalf of all the UK truckers for her traffic news on BBC Radio 2.
