‘Police incident’ on M40 and M42 interchange live as traffic backed up

A major stretch of motorway connecting Warwickshire and Solihull[1] was closed by police with traffic being held due to a “police incident.” A National Highways spokesperson said this evening, August 10: “The M40 in Warwickshire is closed northbound between J15 and the M42 J3A due to a Warwickshire Police led incident.

“Emergency services are in attendance. Diversion route symbol – Hollow Triangle Please allow extra time for your journey, thank you for your patience.”

Emergency services are currently in attendance, and delays are showing on live traffic management systems. A picture from motorway cameras one junction up from the incident show traffic backing up and emergency services on the scene. We have contacted Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance for an update.

This is a developing situation and we will bring you updates in the live blog below.
