M6 crash live as motorists warned over ‘severe’ delays

Motorists have been urged to avoid the M6 near Walsall[1] following a crash earlier this afternoon. Transport for West Midlands has said on Twitter there are lane closures on the motorway's[2] northbound carriageway between J10 and J11 due to a road traffic[3] collision, which took place earlier today, August 25.

It went on to warn drivers that delays are exceeding one hour and advised them to use alternative routes. Traffic monitoring service Inrix says: "Severe delays due to earlier accident on M6 Northbound from J10 A454 Wolverhampton Road (Wolverhampton/Walsall) to J11 A460 (Cannock). Congestion to M5 J1 (West Bromwich)."

Google Maps also shows that heavy traffic has built up on the northbound carriageway.

This is a developing situation and we will bring you the latest updates in the live blog below.
