Live updates – M5 lane closed after shed load

A lane was closed on the M5 during the early rush hour after a fuel spillage. Long queues formed on the road following the incident.

Traffic monitoring website Inrix said the incident has happened between junctions 19 and 20 on the southbound side. Traffic monitoring system Inrix reported: "One lane closed and slow traffic due to shed load on M5 southbound from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J20 B3133 Ettlingen Way (Clevedon)."

National Highways confirmed the closure involved a fuel spillage. It later sent an update saying the lane reopened at around 7pm.
