LIVE: Stretch of M62 SHUT due to ‘police incident’ with queues building – latest updates

A stretch of the M62 is fully shut this afternoon due to an ongoing police incident.

The motorway has been closed off between junction 24 for Ainley Top and junction 23 for Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Officers are on the scene.

Traffic is building in both directions, National Highways said. Drivers have been warned to expect delays.

A tweet posted by National Highways said: “The #M62 in #WestYorkshire is CLOSED in both directions between J24 (#Huddersfield) and J23 due to a @WestYorksPolice led incident.

“More information to follow shortly. Delays are building in both directions.”
