Leeds Festival 2023 traffic diversions in place as roads closed
A number of roads and streets will either be shut with delays likely along major routes as Leeds Festival 2023[1] gets underway. This weekend, Leeds Festival 2023[2] will be underway with acts coming from around the country and the world to perform. As a result, the city can expect plenty of disruption on its roads.
On Thursday, August 24, the festival will be getting underway with acts from 7pm to 3am on the day. From August 25 to August 27, the entertainment will last from 12pm to 6am. As for the festival itself, it will be open to the public from Wednesday, August 23 until Monday, August 28. Thursday is predicted to be the peak period for arrivals.
There are three routes for traffic[3] announced by the organisers, The first, for all car parking travelling from the south comes up from the A1(M) via junction 45 to the Grange Moor and Wattle Sykes roundabouts before heading south on West Woods Road to Thorner Road, left on Thorner Road to Paradise Way and then left onto Brown Gate.
From 9pm on August 27, the route will reverse as people leave the festival. Others from the north will head down the A1(M) to the junction 44 roundabout before heading north on Paradise Way. Traffic will then go left onto White Gate.
Alternative routes go via Clifford, Boston Spa and Tadcaster, avoiding the roundabouts at peak times. Residents in Thorner who require access to the A1(M) are advised to go along Thorner Road, onto West Woods Road, accessing the A1(M) at Wattle Syke,
West Woods Road will be closed at the junction with Wattle Syke for southbound traffic at egress times on Friday and Saturday from 9pm to 3am and on Sunday and Monday from 9pm to 3pm. During these times access to Bramham from the A58, Wetherby and at junction 45 will be via Boston Spa.
The new Red Route will be back in action, meaning a one way system on the A64 will be in force from 4am on Wednesday to 3pm on Monday between the Fox and Grapes pub and the A1(M) roundabout. It will be closed to all eastbound traffic.
