Inquest into death of teen killed in M6 crash adjourned

Chloe Williams died aged just 19 following a crash on the M6 on December 2, 2022.

The inquest into her death[1] on Wednesday, August 23, was adjourned until November 28 as a police investigation continues, at which point a review will take place.

Miss Williams, from Dudley, was a passenger of a Volkswagen Polo which was involved in a crash on the M6 along with three other vehicles.

The crash happened at around 5.15pm between junctions 16 and 17 on the northbound carriageway.

Despite the best efforts of those involved, Miss Williams died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital as a result of her injuries.

A tribute released by her family at the time read: “We have lost our beautiful girl in the most tragic way.

“She was about to start her dream career and has now had all that taken away. We ask as a family to be allowed to grieve in private.”

A 27-year-old man from Rossendale was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving shortly after the crash.

Cheshire Police has provided an update on the case.

A spokesperson said: “The investigation remains ongoing.

“The man is no longer on bail, he is currently released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
