Heavy traffic as lorry loses its load on Hedon Road

Motorists are warning others to avoid Hedon Road, after a lorry lost its load on the carriageway this morning.

Several witnesses claim the incident happened on the westbound carriageway near Queen Elizabeth Dock, at the Somerden Road roundabout. Traffic website Inrix also reports that there is slow traffic on the eastbound carriageway due to the incident.

The truck’s load could be seen spilled out across the road, blocking both lanes. It seemed to be carrying large crates of building materials, which have collapsed.

One man took to the Hull Traffic and Travel Facebook page to warn: “Hedon Road closed between Somerden roundabout and Marfleet. Traffic backing up down Staithes Road to Saltend roundabout from Preston.”

A woman added: “Avoid Hedon Road westbound, going past Somerden Road. Lorry has lost its load and it is completely blocked towards town.”
