Glasgow M73 motorway ‘collision and oil leak’ shuts down busy route

A ‘collision and oil leak’ on the busy M73[1] motorway is causing travel chaos for motorists this afternoon.

Traffic Scotland first reported the incident on the northbound stretch, at J2, just before 1pm on Monday, August 14.

The motorway has since remained shut while emergency services deal with the ongoing incident.

A picture on Traffic Scotland[2] cameras show a stationary lorry on the M73 with what appears to be oil poured across the motorway.

A spokesperson said: “The M73 is currently closed northbound at J2 following an earlier collision and oil leak.

“The slip road to the #M8 however remains open. Current travel time Northbound is 12 mins.”
