Drivers face travel chaos on Glasgow’s M8 as car overturns after crash sparking huge tailbacks

DRIVERS are facing travel chaos after a car overturned on the M8 motorway.

Huge tailbacks have formed after the two-car crash near Junction 6A near Chapelhall, North Lanarkshire[1].

Cops have closed the major road between junctions 6 and 7 after the incident and have urged drivers to avoid the area.

Fire crews and ambulances have also been scrambled to the scene.

A Police Scotland[2] spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving two cars on the M8 at junction 6 westbound, around 7.50am on Wednesday, 30 August, 2023.

“Emergency services are in attendance.

“The M8 westbound is closed between junction six and junction seven.

“Diversions are in place and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”

Traffic Scotland warned both live lanes are affected but traffic can pass using the chevrons.

They posted to social media[3]: “An overturned car is currently affecting both live lanes on the #M8 Westbound at J6A.”
