Busy Glasgow road closed both ways due to ‘police incident’

A busy Glasgow road has been closed both ways by emergency services due to an incident.

Police locked down the M77 motorway between junctions 1 and 2, near Mosspark and Shawlands, around 5.30pm today.

Traffic Scotland ^[1] has confirmed that the closure is currently in place and urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

An eyewitness described the scene to the Glasgow Times as a "gridlock".

UPDATE: Traffic Scotland has since confirmed on Twitter that the road has now reopened but significant delays can be expected in both directions.
