Traffic building after M65 closed due to ‘police incident’
Police have closed part of the M65 due to a ‘concern for welfare incident’ on the motorway.
The closure is in place between junction 10 (Burnley/Padiham) and junction 11 (Burnley Centre) of the M65 in both directions.
The road closure was put in place at around 5pm today (July 10). Traffic delays website INRIX shows heavy congestion in the area as traffic is building.
Police confirmed the incident relates to a ‘concern for welfare’ and emergency services remain at the scene.
Police are advising motorists to find an alternative route and avoid he area where possible.
The #M65[1] is CLOSED in both directions between J9 and J11 near #Burnley[2] due to a @LancsPolice[3] led incident at J10.

A statement posted on Lancashire Police says: Good evening all. Please be aware the M65 Motorway is currently closed between junctions 10 and 11 in both directions due to an ongoing police incident.
“Please find an alternative route and avoid the area where possible.”
Traffic delays website, INRIX states: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to police incident on M65 both ways between J10 A671 Cavalry Way (Burnley / Padiham) and J11 B6434 Princess Way (Burnley Centre). The road has been closed since 5pm.”
