The motorist had been reported for ‘driving badly’ on the M6
The car, pictured, was reported to police for "driving badly" on the M6 close to Lancaster.
Officers pulled the motorist at the defunct motorway post at Forton and breathalysed the driver.
A reading of 96 for alcohol was provided with the legal limit being 35.
The driver was also found to have two illegal tyres on his car and an expired MOT, and was reported for traffic offences.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Vehicle reported by public on the M6 driving badly.
"Stopped at the defunct motorway post at Forton.
"Driver blew roadside breath reading of 96 for alcohol.
"Vehicle was then issued a PG9 prohibition for two illegal tyres.
"Arrested male given TORs for the tyres and an expired MOT."
