M6 chaotic congestion continues due to overturned lorry

THERE is still heavy congestion on the M6 today, Friday, due to a road traffic incident with queues stretching back 10 miles.
An overturned lorry is the source of the congestion.
As per an incident report, two lanes were closed on the M6 southbound between junction 20, Lymm, and junction 19, Knutsford.
One of these lanes has now reopened.
M6 southbound between j20 and j19 Highways and Police are dealing with an RTC – lanes 1 and 2 are currently blocked, we now have standing traffic

Traffic is being reported as congested from Croft, junction 21a.
On initial report read: “Long delays and two lanes closed due to overturned lorry and recovery work on M6 southbound from junction 20 M56 junction 9 (Lymm Interchange) to junction 19 A556 (Knutsford).
“Congestion to junction 21A (M62 Croft interchange).
“Slow traffic on routes through Warrington and Warburton as traffic finds an alternative route.
“Queueing traffic on the northbound side as onlookers slow to look at the incident.
“Travel time is around 55 minutes.
“Lanes one and two (of three) are closed.”
