M5 traffic live: Motorway shut in both directions after five-vehicle crash
Drivers face long delays after two crashes on the M5.
Traffic was held following collisions involving five vehicles between junction 14 for the B4509 (Thornbury/Falfield) and Junction 13 for A419 (Stroud), according to traffic monitoring site Inrix. Traffic on the M5 was stationary in both directions for over 30 minutes.
Cameras showed that no traffic was passing in either direction for some time. Traffic was initially held at 4.15pm. There was several miles of queuing traffic on the M5 in Gloucestershire. The northbound carriageway was closed for over an hour.
National Highways reported delays over an hour. By 5.30pm both carriageways had reopened but there remained residual delays.
