LIVE: Traffic ‘stopped’ on M6 as emergency services called out to smash
Traffic has been brought to a halt on the M6 following a ‘multi-vehicle’ crash. Emergency services have been called to the scene on the northbound carriageway between Junction 15 and Junction 16.
Two lanes had initially been closed at around 3pm. However National Highways says that now all traffic has been stopped on the northbound carriageway.
Motorists are being warned of over an hour delay on approach with six miles of congestion.
It comes as there are long delays near to Stafford Services – also on the northbound side – where two lanes have been shut off due to a fuel spillage with that incident said to have caused eight miles of queuing traffic. The closures have also seen heavy congestion in Stafford, Great Bridgford and Eccleshall as drivers look to avoid the area.
