LIVE: Three lanes closed after crash on M60 – latest updates

Three lanes are currently closed on a stretch of the M60 near Bury[1] following an accident this evening.

There is queuing traffic following the incident on the motorway, which occurred clockwise between junction 17 for Prestwich and junction 18 for the M66.

Highways England reports that two lanes – lane one and two – out of four are closed on the M60[2], however traffic monitoring platform Inrix reports that traffic is currently only able to pass in lane four.

There is approximately around six miles of congestion up to junction 13, which is resulting in delays of around an hour. Traffic officers and traffic management are at the scene.

Emergency services, including North West Motorway Police, are also in attendance.

Highways England has advised road users to expect disruption and allow extra time for their journeys.
