Live: M5 crash causes closure and gridlock in Gloucestershire

Traffic on the M5 motorway on the border of Gloucestershire and Bristol has been brought to a standstill this afternoon (July 1). A stretch of the M5 by the Almondsbury Interchange is closed due to a crash along the carriageway.

Diversions are in place. Drivers are currently being directed off the exit slip road and then re-entering the M5 by an entry slip road.

Traffic monitoring system Inrix confirmed: “M5 Southbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident at J15 M4 J20 (Almondsbury Interchange).

“Traffic is being pushed off at the exit slip road and then being allowed back onto the M5 via the entry slip road. Diversion - Exit and Entry slip roads.”
