Lanes closed on the M6 after collision as queues stretch for miles

The accident happened between junction 9 for Wednesbury and junction 8 for the M5.
National Highways West Midlands tweeted at 4pm to say traffic officers and the emergency services were on their way to the scene.

Meanwhile, West Midlands Roads said a live lane had been closed closed in the same area and of surface water causing problems for motorists both ways.
In a statement, National Highways said: “Central Motorway Police Group and Traffic Officers are working at the scene with recovery arranged and en route.
“There are long delays of up to 60 minutes with 7 miles of congestion bac towards J11 for Cannock.
“If these delays impact on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
AA Traffic News was reporting southbound queues stretching back beyond junction 10a with northbound traffic queueing to junction 6 on the M6 and junction 2 on the M5.
