Fire breaks out in Shawlands with road closed as firefighters tackle …
A fire has erupted in the Shawlands[1] area of Glasgow this evening, with emergency services rushing to the scene.
Firefighters are tackling the blaze which broke out at around 7pm tonight (July 11) in a derelict building on Kilmarnock Road[2] with the road cordoned off in both directions.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service[3] confirmed they are in attendance and that the fire is “well alight” with police officers[4] also in attendance.
Nearby businesses were evacuated and there are no reports of any injuries.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are in attendance at a building fire on Kilmarnock Road.
“We got the call at 18.59 this evening. There are nine appliances in attendance.
“The fire is well alight.”
Police Scotland confirmed they were called to assist with traffic management at around 7.15pm.
