Mum pays tribute to ‘wonderful’ daughter Sarah Henshaw who was found dead in layby

The mum of Ilkeston woman Sarah Henshaw[1] whose body was found in a layby near Chesterfield has paid tribute to her ‘wonderful’ daughter. Police[2] discovered Sarah’s body near junction 29 on the M1 motorway on June 26.

Officers had been searching for Sarah, 31, after was last seen at her home address in Ilkeston[3], at about 9pm on June 20. Lorraine, Sarah’s mum, has now paid a touching tribute to her daughter.

Lorraine said: “Sarah was my first-born child – and was a wonderful daughter and sister. She was also a fantastic mum to her two girls, who she loved so much.

“Sarah would always put others first and was always incredibly kind. As a family we are all devastated by her death. We miss her so much and will love her forever.”

Family friends have also paid tribute to Sarah and have set up an online fundraiser[5] to help pay for her funeral and help Sarah’s two young daughters.

A man who was arrested on suspicion of the 31-year-old’s murder remains in police custody and a warrant of further detention has been authorised giving officers more time to question him.

Officers remain keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of a blue Ford Transit van, registration beginning YP16, in the early hours of Wednesday 21 June around the area of J29 of the M1 and the A617 towards Chesterfield.
